If you want to succeed in Heist you will have to become an expert

Gameplay (cntd.)

In addition to the customizable voice command system, something that impressed me was the non-linear path the game takes. If you want to play the entire game as the gentleman bandit and not kill anyone then that is your prerogative. On the other hand if you plan on mowing down every foe, either combative or non-combative then prepare yourself to be dealt with very harshly. The police will ratchet up their pursuit mode and their fighting back attitude increases to match your increased violent attitude. In addition to police reaction you can expect civilians to carry firearms and they will use their guns against you at the most inopportune time.

Influence your Crew

Another aspect of the game is how your crew acts while under pressure. Let’s say that Crumb brutally man handles a customer that gets in his way. You as Johnny can either encourage this action or sternly scold Crumb. If you rush up to Crumb and smack him across the face and tell him he shouldn’t do something such as that then in future jobs he will actually gravitate to the opposite action. As you progress through the game your crew will start to perform the way you want them to.

Other characters in the game will act much like victims can be expected to act when a criminal activity is taking place. By-standers try to get away and escape, tellers will attempt to push the silent alarm button and guards find cover before they start shooting. This is where your planning comes into play. If you plan for every contingency then things go smoothly. If something goes wrong then it seems like events start to snow ball out of control. Eventually you get the hang of things and you become the master bank robber that you were meant to be and all is right in the world.

Mature Game

Folks if you like your action to come at you fast and furiously then check out this shooter this coming fall. I have always been intrigued with the thought of knocking off a bank for some easy cash. However in this game it certainly won’t be easy, plus the fact that crime has its inevitable consequences makes you want to think before you act. The fact that this game has a rather mature subject matter and it can get quite intense at times it might be a good idea to forgo this title when it comes time to get the younger gamer in the family a Christmas gift.

I never advocate bank robbery or any other criminal activity as a career or goal. With that said, this game is intended for entertainment purposes only. It’s not a primer on how to rob a bank and I sincerely hope the media doesn’t portray it as such if bank robberies suddenly surge. I don’t believe it will because this title is presented with taste and it portrays the subject matter intelligently. Enjoy!
