World War II and RTS go hand in hand

Multiplayer

The single player mode isn’t the only thing that is seeing some changes. The multiplayer mode has a lot of new features and perks to make the gameplay more enjoyable with your friends, as well as people you meet in online play.

Two new multiplayer modes are introduced. The first being capture the flag, which I’m sure everyone knows the principle of: capturing the enemy flag, and returning it to your own base. The second mode to be added is High Value Cargo, which has yet to have details announced. With two new modes, there are also a few new maps to play on, as well as a new playable nation – Japan. The Japan nation has been based on the country 60 years ago, instead of what they are as a nation today.

An online rating system has been introduced to help balance online teams to make them fairer. The balance works well to prevent loosing battle right from the start. Like the single player mode, the multiplayer offers a fully customizable user interface as well as more than 50 new units.

Co-op action is making a return in this title. It has been confirmed that it will be a part of the game, giving a more unique experience than what the player vs. player multiplayer mode has to offer. The mode will present you with team based play where you must help out your friend, which can allow stronger players to help the less experienced, and vice versa.

Each nation will have their strong points, and their weaknesses. For example the new nation Japan, has poor heavy tanks, but an arsenal of fast and agile vehicles, which makes them very good in ambushes. With each nation you’ll have to find a tactical playing style that compliments the advantages and covers the weaknesses.

Interesting

I have been a fan of RTS games for quite some time, spanning different kinds such as Age of Empires and Empire Earth. But they don’t interest me as much now, which is why I’m taking such an interest in this title. The developers are deciding whether to add a lot of realism to the game, because some people love realism, yet some people find it detracts from the fun. Either way it goes, it seems to be one that looks like a lot of fun.

With the release date of Men of War unclear, all we can do is wait and see what happens. With a vague estimate of somewhere in 2008, it could unfortunately take a while before we can get our hands on this one.
