Sandbox to play in (cont.)
Avalanche Software has included for your gaming pleasure 50 missions and a set number of objectives that need to be accomplished in order to advance in the game. You can join a faction and undertake their missions or you can go out on your own and try to cause as much mayhem as you can while completing the objectives. It’s all up to you.
In need of a stunt double
The thing that really impresses me about Just Cause 2 is that the game isn’t simply a run and gun affair. There are nearly 100 different vehicles that can be driven or flown. If you find yourself facing a helicopter gunship then why not use your trusty grappler to commandeer it and use it in your fight against evil. There are other vehicles such as standard everyday cars and trucks, tanks, various planes and even a jumbo jet and nuke submarine that needs to be taken care of.
You may be wondering how Rico would be able to manage to take over a jumbo jet, especially while it is in flight! Rico comes complete with his very own maneuverable parachute. All he needs to do is find a tall building or cliff to jump off of and he’s ready to tackle the job of commandeering the said jumbo jet. Yes, this may seem far-fetched but this is indeed a fantasy and somewhat cartoonish adventure so anything can and will happen.
When you first start out in Just Cause 2, Rico comes with no equipment except his parachute and trusty grappling hook. With these two simple pieces of equipment you must use your good gaming senses to be able to acquire information as to where new weapons can be found. Of course you can salvage items from fallen enemies but as you progress in the game, information concerning an area called the black market will be revealed. The black market contains numerous devices of mass destruction along with a slew of drivable vehicles that can be used by Rico in his quest to rid Panau of it’s evil.
Epic shooter
Well folks, I really can’t say enough good things about this new version of Just Cause except that I can’t wait to get my full copy. The terrain is picture perfect and there are different areas to explore that include desolate deserts to snowy mountain peaks. Throw in the numerous updates to the game AI, gameplay, graphics and a new targeting system that allows individual body parts to be targeted and you have the makings of an epic shooting adventure unrivaled by any other game of this type. Yes, I do believe that Avalanche Software along with Eidos has gotten this one spot on and it is much improved over game one. If all of this pans out come Q1 of 2010 then Avalanche may have a big hit on their hands. Stay tuned!
