BioWare: ME3 Will Balance Shooter & RPG Elements
BioWare has given advanced warning to all the naysayers out there, Mass Effect 3 will, in fact, balance shooter and RPG elements.
In a recent interview with CVG the game's producer Michael Gamble states;
“I wouldn’t say one genre is winning out over another. We just want to tell the best story within the context of an amazing shooter."
Gamble did clarify that RPG die-hards would be pleased with ME3 but there are still the shooter elements present. The game is aiming to be right down the middle with its classification. “I think in Mass Effect 3 we’ve actually brought back a lot of the customisation elements that were missing in Mass Effect 2: Weapons, armour, powers – each power now has nine possible ways of evolution,” he said.
“Like any transition between games, we want to polish everything.”
The Mass Effect franchise has gone back and forth with trying to sell itself as one type of game over the other. The first title was very RPG-ish while the second game was more of a shooter. Here's hoping that this third title splits hairs and calls it even. “Like any transition between games, we want to polish everything.”
Mass Effect 3 is out in March for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
