Civilization VR announced along with Civ VII launch
2K Games and Firaxis Games have announced Sid Meier's Civilization VII is now available worldwide. The revolutionary new chapter in the storied and esteemed strategy game franchise, which has sold-in more than 73 million copies worldwide, is available on consoles and PC simultaneously for the first time in franchise history, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux via Steam. Civilization VII - VR, which was recently announced at the Civ World Summit, is scheduled to launch in Winter 2025.
In Civilization VII, strategic decisions shape the unique cultural lineage of an evolving empire. You rule as one of many legendary leaders from throughout history and steer the course of your story by choosing a new civilization to represent your empire in each Age of human advancement. Construct cities and architectural wonders to expand territory, improve civilization with technological breakthroughs, and conquer or cooperate with rival civilizations as you explore the far reaches of the unknown world. Pursue prosperity in an immersive solo experience or play with others in online multiplayer.
Sid Meiers Civilization VII - VR — developed by PlaySide Studios in collaboration with Firaxis Games and published by 2K, brings the content of the PC and console flatscreen version of Civilization VII exclusively to Meta Quest 3 and 3S from a whole new perspective with unique features for both virtual and mixed reality. Civilization VII - VR leverages the classic, top-down view of Civ, putting you at the Command Table, a board game-like construction where the world is laid out before you and has come to life. You'll be able to peer down from high above the Command Table to strategize your moves or lean all the way in to appreciate the finer details of your scouts, cities, armies, and Wonders. Watch your empire grow from your own museum looking out onto a vista personalized to your leader, or toggle to mixed reality at any time and the Command Table will adapt to its placement in your physical space.
Civilization VII - VR brings the true Civ experience to VR and MR, complete with everything fans expect from Firaxis's beloved series, adding a new dimension to strategy gaming on Quest.
