Away From Keyboard - Lorcana: Wilds Unknown
The Great Beyond: Pixar Joins the Inkwell
The biggest headline for Wilds Unknown is, without a question, the arrival of Pixar. What a great way to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the animation studio. This isn't just a minor inclusion; the set is built around the debut of three beloved franchises: The Incredibles, Toy Story, and Brave.
The thematic shift is palpable. While Whispers in the Well felt like a gothic mystery, Wilds Unknown feels like a grand adventure into the "Great Beyond." The artwork bridges the gap between Disney's classic hand-drawn aesthetics and the distinct, textured look of Pixar’s digital worlds, creating a visual feast that feels both fresh and nostalgic.
Super Suits and Toys: New Characters
The inclusion of The Incredibles brings a heavy focus on the Amethyst and Ruby inks. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl arrive as high-willpower characters that reward tactical positioning, while Dash and Violet introduce "Evasive" and "Rush" synergies that make them incredibly difficult to pin down.

Over in the Amber and Emerald inks, the Toy Story crew introduces a "Teamwork" focus. Woody and Buzz Lightyear have abilities that trigger when they are played alongside other "Toy" glimmers, emphasizing a "no toy left behind" strategy.

Meanwhile, Merida from Brave leads the charge for Steel and Emerald, bringing a fierce "Archer" subtype that interacts with the challenge mechanics introduced in this set.

Epic and Iconic Rarities
Collectors have a massive new chase to look forward to with the Epic and Iconic rarities included in the set.
● Epic Rarity: These cards feature a unique "Wilds" border, with vines and glowing flora that seem to wrap around the card's edge. They are more than just foils; they have a distinct holographic pattern that changes depending on the light.
● Iconic Rarity: This is the new gold standard. There are only a handful of Iconic cards in Wilds Unknown—including the highly sought-after Buzz Lightyear – Space Ranger and Merida – Fate-Changer. These cards feature a full-bleed "Constellation" foil treatment and a textured finish that sets them apart.

Strategic Frontier
Wilds Unknown isn't just about the new faces; it introduces mechanics that shake up the fundamental "Quest or Challenge" decision-making process. The most notable is the arrival of Synergy effects, which grant bonuses if you have characters from the same series (like Incredibles and Toy Story) on the field at the same time. A great example is Toy Story's Jessie - Lively Cowgirl which allows players to draw a card if they have two or more Toy Characters in play.
We also see the expansion of Location interactions. The "Wilds" themselves are represented by powerful new Location cards like Andy’s Room and Pizza Planet.
Into the Unknown
Wilds Unknown marks a monumental turning point for Disney Lorcana. By opening the gates to Pixar, Ravensburger has significantly expanded the strategic and creative possibilities of the game. Seeing Merida quest alongside Elsa or Mr. Incredible challenging a dragon feels like the ultimate realization of what this TCG was meant to be.
Whether you are hunting for those elusive Iconic Pixar pulls or simply excited to see how "Super" powers change the meta, Wilds Unknown is a breathtaking step into a new era. Grab your gear and your courage—the horizon has never looked more Incredible.
