Away From Keyboard - Magic: The Gathering - Marvel's Spider-Man
As a full expansion, Magic: The Gathering - Marvel's Spider-Man shakes up the Standard gameplay mechanics while simultaneously offering an incredible collecting opportunity for Marvel fans. Packed with fan-favorite heroes, classic villains, and stunning card treatments, this is one set you won't want to miss.
The Friendly Neighborhood (Setting the Scene)
The set encapsulates the entire Spider-Verse, pitting multiple iterations of Peter Parker and his allies against his most notorious rogues. From the streets of New York to the depths of the Multiverse, the set is a celebration of the character's legacy.

We see the full spectrum of Spidey's allies and foes represented, including Peter Parker / Amazing Spider-Man and Norman Osborn / Green Goblin as powerful double-faced cards, offering a transformation mechanic that perfectly fits their alter-ego narratives. Also swinging in are fan-favorites like Miles Morales // Ultimate Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy / Ghost-Spider, and even Spider-Ham, Peter Porker.
Visually, the set is a collector's dream. Wizards of the Coast has introduced several exciting Booster Fun treatments:
Borderless Web-slinger Frames: Featuring dynamic action poses that leap off the card frame.
Borderless Panel Cards: Designed to resemble comic book panels, perfect for showcasing key moments.
Borderless Classic Comic Cards: Exclusive to Collector Boosters, these cards reimagine legendary Spider-Man comic covers as Magic cards, offering breathtaking visuals for iconic issues.

The Web of Mechanics (New & Returning Abilities)
Marvel's Spider-Man introduces new mechanics tailored to Spider-Man's themes while bringing back a few powerful returning favorites.
New Mechanics
Mayhem
An alteration of the existing Madness mechanic, Mayhem lets you play cards that you have discarded earlier in the turn.

Web-slinging
A new ability word likely focused on interacting with creatures, possibly through tapping, temporary removal, or granting evasion.

Nosh
An ability word tied to beneficial, often casual, effects. Seen on the card Bagel and Schmear, it allows you to pay a cost, sacrifice the artifact, and gain life and draw a card.

Harness
A new designation used on powerful artifacts like The Soul Stone. Once a permanent is "Harnessed," it gains new, permanent, and usually game-defining abilities, like the Infinity symbol ability on the Soul Stone.

Returning Mechanics
Connive
Returning from Streets of New Capenna, creatures with Connive let you draw a card, then discard a card. If you discard a nonland card, you put a +1/+1 counter on the creature. This perfectly represents the quick-witted nature of characters like Spider-Man and the information gathering of his allies and enemies.
Modified
Returning from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, this is a designation for creatures with Auras, Equipment, or counters on them. This synergizes brilliantly with the set’s focus on suits, tech, and symbiotic relationships (like Venom).

Magic: The Gathering - Marvel's Spider-Man is poised to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
