Away From Keyboard - Lorcana: Reign of Jafar

After seizing one piece of the Crown, Jafar used his snake staff to hypnotize Basil into finding the other half. With his impressive detective skills, Basil searched far and wide for traces of this damaged relic. Sneaking into the depths of Archazia’s palace, Jafar reforged the Hexwell Crown, returning it to its former glory. Jafar transforms the once beautiful island haven into a harsh landscape. The citadel, with its welcoming halls and rooms, is corrupted into a treacherous fortress.
It is up to you to break in and foil Jafar's plot. Take heed, though, for he's rigged the whole place with traps ready to spring at your slightest misstep. He may even try to trick you with his legion of illusions that are mirages of light and sand.
Playing the Game
We at Hooked Gamers were lucky enough to receive review copies of both single player decks from the Reign of Jafar set to test prior to release. Like previous sets, these Single player decks allow players to jump straight into a game with premade decks. The first deck features Tiana and Bruno Marigal and is an Amber and Amethyst and Steel. The second deck features Stitch and Mulan and is a combination of Ruby and Steel.
From our playthroughs, the Amber and Amethyst set focuses on gathering lore as fast as possible and preventing opponents from removing your cards. It is a set that also features songs and has players drawing cards on as many occasions as you can. The characters aren’t particularly strong, so challenging can be a dangerous experience. On the other hand, the Ruby and Steel set focuses on removing opposition cards from the game, challenging at every opportunity.
Mechanics
The dual ink mechanic from Archazia’s Island returns, allowing for cards with effects that wouldn't normally appear on the same card, as well as characters with blended traits.
Vanish is a new keyword that was also found in Archazia's Island, with most Vanish cards having the explanation of 'When an opponent chooses this character for an action, banish them.' Somewhat confusingly, this banishes the card with Vanish and for this reason, it can be a tough call to use cards with this keyword.
Illumineer's Quest - Palace Heist
The Reign of Jafar Illumineer's Quest: Palace Heist is a cooperative adventure where you and one to three others take on the cunning villain Jafar! In this adventure, Jafar has his own powerful oversized card and a deck of 50 cards with four different difficulty levels. This set allows for a different gameplay experience than the single player decks.
The Cards
As you would expect, characters from Aladdin feature prominently in the Reign of Jafar set.

The dogs and cats from Archazia's island still inhabit the island and as such, they too continue to feature prominently.
