Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga...an update
The Lego Star Wars video game series is one of the reasons why the Lego video games became so popular across the globe. It turned out that many Star War fans were also fond of Lego and video games.
The Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was released in April 2022. It took six years for Traveller's Tales (the developer behind these titles) to reveal the sixth instalment of the series. This might be surprising given that The Skywalker Saga's predecessor – The Force Awakens – was a huge success.
In any case, players now have a chance to try the new title as we did. Here's what we think about it!
The Story
One thing that makes Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga unique is the story. This time, the developers decided to create a story based on all 9 films of the central Star Wars saga. So, you will find elements from the original trilogy and the latest releases.
The well-known Star Wars landmarks will keep popping up as you progress. Also, you can expect various popular characters. While talking about moving up, we should note that the story here is not linear – you can choose to start a new session from any of the three Skywalker Saga trilogies.
Game Mechanics and Info
As we said, you can choose one of the three trilogies before you start playing. So, we have three trilogies with three episodes each and five main story missions per episode. Simply put, you can expect a total of 45 levels, which is way more than its predecessors.
Those focusing on the main story missions can complete this game in 19 hours. If you want to complete side missions, get all trophies, and explore the entire Star Wars universe in this title, you'll need up to 90 hours. So, it’s a vast game promising many fun moments.
Another great thing about this video game is the combat. Instead of simple attacks, you can expect several combos, including heavy attacks and live attacks. Also, blaster characters have an over-the-shoulder camera making combat scenes more exciting.
Some Lego fans might be disappointed that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga doesn't let them customize their characters. This was a standard feature in the previous titles. However, we should highlight the opportunity to choose from 380 characters (some of them are not part of Star Wars movies).
The concept of Lego Star Wars reminds us of the popular casino games that pay real money, in which you can explore exciting worlds while spiking your adrenaline. The difference is that the hub world of this game can present random encounters with your enemies. So, don’t be surprised if a Star Destroyer shows up right before you and unleashes a fleet of TIE fighters.
Also, you can choose to participate in dogfights or go on with the main story. Throughout the game plot, you will find worlds that belong to the Star Wars franchise, including planets and stellar objects like Endor, Tatooine, Hoth, Starkiller Base, Jakku, Coruscant, Naboo, and Ajan Kloss.
Exciting DLCs
Even before releasing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Traveller's Tales unveiled their intentions to spice up the game with seven downloadable content packs. For instance, an Obi-Wan Kenobi character is an exclusive offer for digital purchases (pre-orders included).
Another DLC pack worth mentioning is the one released on 19 April 2022 with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story characters like Orson Krennic, K-2SO, and Jyn Erso.
29 November 2022 is the date when players received the last two packs created for this video game. They can expect characters from the two latest spin-off Star Wars series. First, we have five characters from the Andor series. Second, there are five characters from The Book of Boba Fett.
Final thoughts
After playing the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for several hours, we concluded that this is undoubtedly the best Lego Star Wars video game so far. Some might argue that this is the leading title of the entire Lego series.
First, you should expect a very long game that can take up to 90 hours to finish. The best part is that these hours will not be filled with repetitive tasks and boring missions. There are excellent action-packed scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Like the other Lego Star Wars games, this one has excellent dialogues, suitable for young and (slightly) older players. Even though it’s mostly advertised as a single-player game, this title has a great local co-op mode making it one of the best couch co-op video games of 2022.
It doesn't matter whether you are a great Star Wars fan (or not) - it would be wise to get this entertainment-packed release and enter the (almost) endless virtual world of fun. In addition, don’t forget that the DLCs can improve your experience by letting you choose even more characters.
