Rumor: Mortal Kombat Will Utilize Online Pass System

According to reports, Warner Bros. upcoming fighting title, Mortal Kombat, will utilize the Online Pass system that would make second hand owners of the game pay a fee to play the game online.

Whether or not this is true hasn't quite been determined, but Warner Bros. isn't quite making the fact known that they intend to employ the Online Pass.

Apparently Joystiq intercepted an email between Warner Bros. and select retailers detailing the fact that the Online Pass was to be utilized.

The email states that the game will be shipped with code for the Online Pass, which will have to be purchased for $10 if sold second-hand. If you buy the game used, you will be allowed to try the game online for two days before you will have to pay $9.99 on the PSN or 800 MS points through Xbox LIVE.

That same email that Joystiq got their hands on also detailed that a similar system would be used in other upcoming Warner Bros. titles such as F.E.A.R. 3 and Batman: Arkham City.

EA and THQ have not commented on this as of yet.
