The Vanishing of Ethan Carter gets a Gamescom trailer
Ready for a plot-boiling occult mystery? Here's the new Gamescom trailer for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, which confirms that the game will be coming to PS4 as well as PC:
Interestingly, the game isn't about puzzles, so much as building "atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of the characters." Players will explore the game world from a first-person perspective, trying to find out why the titular Ethan has disappeared. While the game is said to have "uneasy" moments, it isn't exactly a horror game.
It's also worth noting that the game is being developed by The Astronauts, formerly known as People Can Fly--the developers of such games as Bulletstorm and Painkiller. Ethan Carter couldn't look more different from the developer's past titles, but that isn't a bad thing. I personally love it when developers branch out and try new things instead of just making the same game over and over. It will be very interesting to see how the game turns out.
The game launches on September 26.
