Torment: Tides of Numenera video footage
InXile, whose Wasteland 2 will launch tomorrow, has given us an early glimpse of their other project – Torment: Tides of Numenera. The top-down isometric roleplaying game is a spiritual successor to the classic Planescape Torment, and drew over four million dollars in Kickstarter crowdfunds back in April of last year.
The newly released video gives you a good idea of the dark and outlandish “Ninth World”, home of the alien Maw, a giant, pulsating orifice that seems to feed off both memories and flesh. Like the earlier Planescape Torment, Numenera leans heavily on its strong characters and choice-driven narrative. However, quite surprisingly, Numenera also seems to lay a fair amount of solid voice work over its in-depth writing and slick dialogue interface.
It may well be nostalgia-driven, but a resurgence in computer RPGs inspired by great PC classics is difficult to not get excited about. You can view three minutes of colourful Numenera footage below.
