Multiversus Announces Season 2 Update
Multiversus took off with a blast when it launched earlier this year, with impressive initial concurrent playerbase numbers. However, one of the most consistent criticisms has been the limited amount of content initially made available, and the developers' slow attempts at rectifying this post-launch. As a result, Multiversus has lost approximately 80% of its original day one audience.

Paving a New Path Forward...
Developer Player First Games and publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment are intent on changing course with the launch of Season 2, as part of the game's ongoing live service development cycle. In a lengthy patch notes post published on the game's support site, new details have been revealed concerning what players can expect with this newest in-game Season.
One of the major focuses this time around is addressing Quality-of-Life concerns. Regarding the game's battle pass, which had been criticized for being a little too light-handed with rewards, the team at Player First Games assured players:
"Season 2 starts with a new Battle Pass packed with content. We heard your feedback and made sure that there are no tiers without rewards. We also tuned the number of points required to complete each tier so that the Battle Pass feels both engaging and rewarding."
Other similar changes and additions were implemented, including an overhauling of the in-game shop, which definitely was in need of some reworking. Previously, players could view paid cosmetics of each character by hovering over said character in a pre-match character selection screen, as well as via the main menu, but the cosmetics and other paid content was spread out in a disorganized, borderline-haphazard manner. The creation of a formally-designated Shop section simplifies matters nicely for those seeking to enhance their in-game experience with optional digital purchases.

Keeping an Eye on the Prize...
Some of the more major additions, which were revealed in a separate blog post, include:
"...an all-new Game of Thrones-themed map with all the hazards and pitfalls you’d come to expect from the land of Westeros. Soon you’ll be able to hurl your opponents away from the Iron Throne while humming an all-new remix of the awesome Game of Thrones theme music which has been composed with multiple sections that can transition dynamically depending on what mayhem is taking place in the match. When you play the Game of Thrones map, you win or you… fall off the map."
Season 2 brings with it the addition of Marvin the Martian to the character roster. While it's definitely nice to see both the map pool and the character lineup getting bolstered with these individual additions, it doesn't exactly feel like either WB or Player First are putting in maximum effort into giving Multiversus the serious commitment it requires, in order to have a long-term future. One need only keep a vague eye on the concurrent playerbase numbers to judge their success, or lack thereof.
